… melodies sung over electronic sounds… it felt like
magic, or maybe it was just me discovering a brand new world. I
rapidly turned from a sound engineer into a speaker. I've always
centered my shows around dance music. My experience in the radio
scene took many different directions until in 1987 I worked with
Radio Dee Jay. The collaboration was quite a short one because
of the draft. After the military service I picked up again my activity
in radios & discos as a dj. I also worked with R.T.L.
in 1996; the show was called Weekendance. In 1997 I became
the art director of a dance radio called Tam Tam Network.
Going back to the early days of my career, exactly in 1984, I managed
to cut my first record as a singer, the title was "FOLLOW
ME", as Karl Olivas. The name was chosen by a manager
who believed in me as a singer and who arranged tours in half Europe,
focusing on Spain for a few years, thus the name. Among the several
recording experiences I'd like to remember when I met Marco Masini
who wrote dance music at the time (1987). With the name of Dr
Martini, I sung one of his tunes, "YOU ARE THE ONE",
produced by Time Records.
